As a settler on this land, I acknowledge that the territory I live on in Hamilton, Ontario is the traditional territory of the Erie, Neutral, Huron-Wendat, Haudenosaunee and Mississauga Peoples. It is covered by The Between Lakes Treaty #3, and by the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant, created to bind nations of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy to The Great Law of Peace. The Dish represents the shared land, while One Spoon is about sharing and peace. Unfortunately, these treaties and covenants have yet to be honoured.

I remain committed to bringing equity, diversity and inclusion, educating myself, and bringing awareness to others of how we can contribute to reconciliation. I send a profound wish for the healing of deep wounds that continue to bring grief and unfairness to the lives of many Indigenous peoples, and I promise to be open to learning and hearing about their grief for as long as it takes.  May we all be guided by love and a wish to contribute to healing.
